Bluegumview Taxi Rank Nearing Completion

Providing top notch, reliable, safe and easily accessible public transport and facilities for the people is the City’s top priority.

That is why the Executive Mayor Cllr Mzwandile Masina, together with Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Transport and Planning Cllr Phelisa Nkunjana, criss-crossed the City inspecting progress at taxi ranks that are still under construction.

Bluegumview taxi rank in Flamingo Street in Duduza is one of the ranks visited. The mayor and team were informed that 80% of the work had been completed and the rank would completed by October 2020.

Upon completion, this rank will service residents of Duduza commuting between Duduza and Nigel.

The City spent over R22 million on its construction which boasts facilities such as admin office building, ablution facilities, hawker stalls, canopy structure, holding and loading bays, waste bins, access roads and the ClearVu boundary fence.

The holding bays will accommodate 27 vehicles, 24 loading bays will process 114 mini-buses per hour. Over 400 mini-buses using the facility will transport approximately 5 000 commuters.
