Bluegumview Taxi Rank To Be Completed

The community of Duduza will be thrilled with the planned construction for the much-awaited Bluegumview taxi rank, after the City of Ekurhuleni has set to prioritize the completion of the taxi rank. The taxi rank is one of the busiest township ranks with a wide network of routes catering for the community of Tsakane and Duduza.

During the Budget Speech MMC for Finance and Economic Development Cllr Nkosindiphile  Xhakaza said we are allocating R1.3 billion for the MTREF and R478 million for the 2020/21 financial year. Key projects in this area include the completion of the Vosloorus and Bluegumview taxi ranks; and the construction of IRPTN bus stations, depots and proper stream-crossings to ensure safety for our residents.

He further said we will also be undertaking the cleaning of taxi ranks, which is especially critical in the effort to flatten the curve in our fight against the scourge of COVID-19.

We are excited with the prioritization of the Metro in resolving to build the taxi rank. As an informal trader in the rank, I hope that the taxi rank facility will be able to offer retail space for informal traders and prioritise traders that are currently in operation when it is finalised said Nozizwe Mkhwanazi, a local informal trader.

The Bluegumview taxi facility will go a long way towards benefiting the local communities who are primarily depending on public transport to travel to places of work, school and to do shopping.
