City Energy Officials Work on Restoring Power Supply in Jet Park after Vandalism at Substation

The City of Ekurhuleni has noted with utmost disgust the vandalism at an electricity substation in Jet Park that left both Jet Park and Ravensklip without power on 3 March 2021. The sub-station was damaged after intruders stole cables at the substation which led to an explosion.

All industrial areas that were affected by the outage have been reconnected to the power grid, and technicians are working around the clock to restore supply to all affected customers.

The City urges the community to be vigilant and isolate criminals that damage public infrastructure, and report any information that might lead to the arrest of the criminals to the police so that they can be brought to justice.

Protection of public infrastructure and facilities is a societal responsibility and the City calls upon the community to work with the City to prevent theft and vandalism of public infrastructure. Damage and theft of infrastructure leads to unnecessary outages and costs.

At this state the estimated time of restoration is Thursday, 4 March  at 17h00.
