City on Course to Address Waste Removal Backlogs

The City of Ekurhuleni is working around the clock to clear all waste removal backlogs across the city after delays were recorded in some areas recently. This was due to uncompleted procurement processes that have since been completed.

Currently areas that have been fully restored and normalised include:

  • Kempton Park
  • Edenvale
  • Boksburg
  • Bedfordview
  • Springs
  • Nigel
  • KwaThema
  • Brakpan
  • Duduza

There is also great improvement in the Germiston and Alberton areas. Minor backlogs in these areas will be addressed over the weekends until all backlogs are cleared.

Backlogs in the Benoni area will be addressed over the weekend.

Furthermore, the City wishes to urge all its customers to refrain from dumping waste illegally at any open spaces as that is harmful to the environment and to humans.
