CITY OF EKURHULENI HANDS OVER NEWLY BUILT HOUSE DAMAGED BY SINKHOLE

The MMC responsible for City Planning, Ald Heather Hart, officially handed over the newly built house to the Buthelezi family in Zonkezizwe, Zone 04. The house was damaged by a sinkhole and reported to the City of Ekurhuleni for possible refurbishment in October 2019.

Upon assessment, the City acted swiftly to move the family to a safer place.  The rehabilitation process started with the demolition of the house, excavation of the sinkhole and rebuilding of the house.

“Firstly, I want to thank the Buthelezi family for their patience. The sinkhole rehabilitation process took longer than expected. We had to set aside a budget to ensure that the reconstruction of the house is done properly. I am so happy that our residents will now occupy the safest house in Zonkezizwe,” said MMC Hart.
