Curbing Irregular Approval of Building Plans

The City of Ekurhuleni has embarked on a verification drive of all building plans approved from 1 July 2018 to date.

This drive will be completed at the end of 30 June this year.

The verification process follows allegations of scammers promising to approve building plans. This is even if they do not meet the standards of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Acts, Act 103 of 1977 and applicable laws in the finalisation of building plans and issuance of Certificates of Occupancy.

The City urges residents to refrain from engaging in fraudulent activities but rather report perpetrators of such.

Inspections will start in Alberton area and will be done on property developments approved since July 2018. Any structure deemed to be in contravention of the City’s building control bylaws and regulations will see the owners served with contravention notices and applicable processes will be instituted.

For any verification, enquiries must be forwarded to the Regional Manager: Building Control, Tabudi Tebele at Tabudi.tebele@ekurhuleni.gov.za.
