Ekurhuleni and Gauteng COGTA to Launch Ward-Based Measures to Curb Spread of COVID-19
The City, together with Gauteng Department of Corporative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) will launch the ward-based approach to curb the spread of COVID-19 that has shown a steep in increase in Gauteng.
The recent spark in COVID-19 infections has been driven by cluster outbreaks calling for focussed interventions in those clusters, which are mainly ward-based. Prevention of the spread of COVID-19 is a societal responsibility as it requires behavioural change.
To encourage this change in communities experiencing cluster outbreaks the City, in collaboration with COGTA, will roll out a ward-based communication approach to change the mind-set of those who have not embraced the methods of COVID-19 prevention, namely social distancing, hand washing, and sneezing and coughing etiquettes. This will happen tomorrow in Thembisa.
