Ekurhuleni Investigate Electricity Scammers

The City of Ekurhuleni urges its residents to wary of the scammers who claim to be selling the City’s electricity at the lower price.

In the social media these scammers claim to be working with the City in their operations.

People are asked to send their details to the unknown individuals as part of the “purchasing of the electricity”.

Ekurhuleni through its Energy and EMPD is following the leads on these scammers.

Buying or selling of electricity from the illegal outlets may lead to fine or arrest or both.

Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of these scammers may contact the nearest police or the City’s anti-fraud hot line on 0800 102 201.
