CITY REPLACES CONVENTIONAL METERS WITH PREPAID METERS IN BUHLE PARK
The City of Ekurhuleni is replacing old conventional electricity meters with prepaid meters in Buhle Park, Germiston. This will go a long way in preventing meter tampering and illegal connections which cause grid overload and revenue losses to the city.
Over 2000 of 4800 conventional meters have been replaced with prepaid meters since June 2025.
The city’s technicians are also educating customers of the advantages of converting to prepaid, such as monitoring the consumption of electricity and to avoid meter tampering.
The city-wide project is set to continue until all areas are covered. Homeowners are advised to always verify with the city the identity of technicians when they request for entry into their households by calling the city’s call centre on 0860 543 000.
