NEW DATES FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS ON INDEPENDENT POWER PRODUCERS

Following the postponement of the initial public meeting for the comments on the appointment of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) that was scheduled to sit in March 2025, new dates have been set and the city is yet again calling on members of the public to make in-put on the issue of independent power producers (IPPs).

The city plans to appoint multiple IPPs for various electricity generation technologies to a capacity of 1 500 Megawatts.

The appointed IPPs will be awarded 20-year contracts.

Members of the community and other interested parties are invited to submit comments or representation to the municipality in respect of the proposed contract to April.dlamini@ekurhuleni.gov.za and Jabulile.kgomo@ekurhuleni.gov.za
