PALM RIDGE SUBSTATION UPDATE

Work to reconstruct the Palm Ridge substation which caught fire on Thursday, 3 July 2025 is progressing well.

Preliminary tests of the transformers are complete, and two of the transformers can take load, and one is still undergoing repairs.

The city is considering a temporary contingency supply to bypass the burnt building to restore supply to all affected communities. Various switching stations are being considered in the process and will be prioritised between today and Friday, 11 July 2025.

If everything goes according to the plan, power should be restored for all customers by Tuesday, 15 July 2025.

Regular updates will be given as and when there are new developments.

Customers are advised to treat all electrical networks as live while work is ongoing.
