MMC Mmoko Condemns Vandalism of Electrical Meter Boxes

A by-laws enforcement blitz resulted in disconnections of illegally connected shops and even closure of some.

Led by Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Safety Cllr Frans Mmoko the blitz was held in the Kempton Park CBD on Thursday, 23 July.

During the walk about on West Street, MMC Mmoko and a team comprising of energy department officials identified a vandalised electrical meter box with exposed live electrical components. The meter box was stripped of its protective enclosure and fuses.

MMC Mmoko has condemned the criminal acts of vandalism in the strongest terms, calling on law enforcers to leave no stone unturned in apprehending the perpetrators.

Furthermore, the City’s energy department is working on replacing vandalised electrical meter boxes with stronger and more durable protective enclosures.
