Motsu Bridge Repaired After Flood Damage
The bridge in Motsu in Thembisa is being refurbished after being damaged by floods in December.
Chief Engineer of Thembisa depot Kgadi Marumo said, “Our team is on site clearing the bridge culverts to allow the free flow of water and we are also working on walkway reinstatement, which will keep our pedestrians safe.”
Kgadi said the department’s plan is to put in gabions to prevent further erosion of the bridge and fixing of guardrails.
“An estimated completion date is the end of May this year and our team will continue with the work to meet the deadline. We are hopeful that the weather won’t disrupt our plans,” he said.
The City calls on residents to refrain from dumping debris in the stream as it leads to erosion of the bridge deck due to the water not flowing freely. You report service related issue to the call centre through My CoE App / 0860 543 000 / call.centre@ekurhuleni.gov.za
