Overgrown Trees Pruned

The recent heavy rains have resulted in unprecedented overgrown trees on pavements and in residential areas in the City.

It is no surprise that the City’s Call Centre has been inundated with calls from residents reporting overgrown grass and low hanging tree branches. Emmanuel Maphorogo, Divisional Head for Parks and Cemeteries, said all hands were on deck to cut the grass and trim the trees.

“Residents and motorists should be cautious when driving on some of the City’s main roads as our team may be on site, barricading a portion of the road to allow for the safe cutting of trees.”

Maphorogo pleads with residents to refrain from cutting branches that are hanging onto public roads, “Cutting down a tree if you are not well trained and in the absence of proper equipment can be dangerous to humans and property.”
