Power Restored to Large Part of Katlehong

The City of Ekurhuleni has restored power to a large part of Katlehong after the area was affected by power outages caused by grid overload. Furthermore, additional mini substations have since been installed in some areas to prevent further power outages that are caused by overload.

The City, working with Eskom, conducted audits in Mokoena, Mosiliki, Hlahatsi, Nhlapho, Radebe and Mofokeng sections to identify causes of outages and implement remedial actions. Plans to install mini substations in Nhlapho and Hlahlane sections are underway.

The following sections in Katlehong were also affected by power outages caused by grid overload.

• Makula
• Skosana
• Goba
• Motloung

Power outages are mainly caused by grid overload and meter bypass. Residents are urged to isolate electricity theft syndicates and co-operate with City officials when they disconnect illegal connections.
