Refurbishment Work Ongoing At the Springs JVA Sub-Station
Following the fire that initially engulfed the Springs JVA sub-station in February extensive damage to the facility was recorded with most of the electrical appliances burnt to ashes, rendering the facility inactive.
A temporary structure was erected outside the sub-station building to temporarily house the electrical components so as to allow for uninterrupted supply of electricity to customers.
As such, the City has allocated funds to the value of R800 000 for the refurbishment of the sub-station which started on Monday, 7 September.
Refurbishment work includes plastering and painting walls, removing the old burnt roof and replacing it with a new one, installation of doors and windows, floor tiles and replacing ablution facilities.
Expected completion of the refurbishment work is November.
