21 New Buses Added to the City Fleet

Twenty-one new buses have been added to the City’s fleet.

The new buses, manufactured to conform to the modern world environmental standards, will provide additional capacity to the Harambee buses that are serving the Thembisa and OR Tambo International Airport route.

Furthermore, they will cover the entire City, including parts of Joburg such as Sunnyridge, Randburg, Cresta and Rivonia.  Other areas in Ekurhuleni that will be covered by the buses include Spruitview, Palm Ridge, Katlehong, Reiger Park, Eastfield, Isando, Leondale, Phumula, Ooostrdkruin, Buhle Park, Meadowbrook, Spartan and Primrose.

An amount of R60 million has been spent in the acquisition of the buses, and they will replace the City’s aging bus fleet.

The procurement of the additional 21 buses is in line with the City’s goal to invest in public transport to transform the townships accessibility and economy.
