Harambee BRT Introduces Level 3 Lockdown Timetable
The President’s announcement of Covid-19 level 3 lockdown has brought major shifts in operation and timetable for the Harambee BRT in the City. Passengers who commute between Thembisa and Isando as well Thembisa and OR Tambo International Airport have been affected by these changes since Monday 4 January 2021.
MMC for Transport and Fleet Management Cllr Phelisa Nkunjana said, “Isando route is back and operational at full capacity. First bus departs Thembisa hospital to Isando at 04:40, followed by other buses at 20 minutes’ intervals until 07:00 when the service stops. Buses are back on the route from Isando to Thembisa at 15:20 until 18:00”, said Nkunjana
She further said the OR Tambo International Airport route is now operating at full capacity. The first bus departs Thembisa Hospital to OR Tambo International Airport at 04:00 with 20 minutes’ intervals for peak hours (04:00 – 07:00) and 30 minutes’ intervals for off-peak hours (07:00 – 11:00). The last bus departs from ORTIA at 23:44.
The bus service will also be using its former bus stops at the OR Tambo Terminal Building at ACSA, Mid-terminal and Terminal B on Lower Airport Road.
