NICOL ROAD REOPENED

Executive Mayor Cllr Sivuyile Ngodwana together with Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Roads, Stormwater, Transport and Planning Cllr Andile Mngwevu have officially re-opened Nicol Road in Bedfordview, following its closure two months ago due to structural damage.

The reconstruction of the Nicol Road which cost R5-million will see motorists enjoy the usage of this road with minimal traffic load during peak hours, and pedestrians will have access to a much wider sidewalk.

The scope of work entailed the installation of the dump rock, 19mm stone and the installation of new stormwater pipes. The work included the reconstruction of manholes as well as the installation of gabions on the sides.

The reconstruction of Nicol Road created 11 job opportunities for the locals.
