Taxis to Operate During Lockdown

While Ekurhuleni Bus Service and Brakpan Bus Company operations are suspended during the 21-days lockdown, due to Covid-19, minibus taxis and other public transport services continue to operate as per the schedule announced by the Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula.

 The minister said taxis would be permitted to transport essential service workers and consumers to shops, but under strict control measures that observe social distancing to limit the spread of Covid-19.

 “All people are catered for in terms of public transport, prioritizing essential services that takes into consideration people needing to go to hospitals or to go buy groceries. You will be catered for between 05h00 and 09h00, and again between 16h00 and 20h00.”
