WORK TO REPAIR STREETLIGHTS ONGOING IN KLIPPOORTJE

Residents of Klipportjie in Boksburg are relieved as the City accelerates clearing of all service delivery backlogs, including streetlights in Klippoortje.
Most streetlights are damaged by criminals who steal cables and the electrical components inside the poles. However, officials are on the ground to fix the damage done.
Mduduzi Ncube, Divisional Head for Energy Operations in the City said with the budget allocated to the in this financial year, a noticeable progress will be made to fix streetlights.
In addition, Ncube pleaded with residents to protect the electrical infrastructure from vandalism.
“Installing streetlights in communities is another way of creating safer spaces. When there is adequate lighting, criminals get discouraged from doing crime,” Ncube said.
