City of Ekurhuleni bus fares is going up by R0.50c per trip with effect from 1 July 2022.

Unfortunately, due to the ever increasing maintenance costs and the price of fuel, the City had to adjust the fares to keep the service afloat.

“Unfortunately the situation is beyond our control and everyone can concur with us that the standard of living is becoming more and more expensive each day – and so are maintenance costs. Understanding this, we are implementing a minimal increase to ensure the fleet remains in good condition for the ease of movement of our people between their homes and their various destinations and places of work, ” explains City spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

The last time the City increased the bus fare was July 2019.
