EKURHULENI CLEARS SEWER BLOCKAGES IN BENONI

The MMC for Water and Sanitation Cllr Thembi Msane led a team of technicians to unblock sewer pipes in Chief Albert Luthuli, Benoni on today, 09 October 2025.

The blockages were caused mainly by foreign objects.

Cllr Msane urged residents to play an active role in preventing sewer blockages by disposing of waste responsibly and promptly reporting any sewer spillages.

The Benoni depot, which services the Etwatwa, Daveyton and Benoni, responds to about 800 incidents of sewer blockages per month, caused mainly by disposed foreign objects.

The city calls on the community to play their part to maintain a clean and healthy environment by properly disposing rubble and waste.
