MMC Mabaso Visits Ramaphosa Informal Settlement to Address Illegal Dumping

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Environment Resources and Waste Management Services Cllr Makhosazana Mabaso visited Ramaphosa informal settlement to assess the state of readiness to address cleanliness in the area. The MMC’s visit was part of the programme led by the Executive Mayor to assess progress made on various ongoing service delivery projects across the city.

MMC Mabaso assured residents of Ramaphosa informal settlement in Boksburg that the City is now in a better position to tackle the scourge of illegal dumping across the City. This was after delays in the procurement process that affected cleaning and waste removal programmes in the area.

“We have finalised all the tender processes to appoint service providers that will help augment waste removal services offered by the City. Therefore, as of 1 July, it’s all systems go in terms of ensuring that the City is cleaner and greener,” said MMC Mabaso.

The MMC further encouraged residents to adopt a culture of recycling to help them make money out of their recyclable waste products.

She also spoke about the re-blocking programme currently happening in the area that it will allow waste removal trucks to move in swiftly to remove all waste in the area.
