Waste Removal Backlog Caused By Work Disruptions is Being Addressed

The City of Ekurhuleni wishes to assure customers that waste removal backlog caused by a group calling themselves Ekurhuleni Business Forum is being addressed.

The waste removal backlog was caused by a work stoppage initiated by the group on Monday, 15 March, in Katlehong, Thokoza and Vosloorus, including parts of Boksburg South.

The group intimidated waste removal workers, interrupting services in those areas as a result. Work to attend to the backlog will resume on Wednesday, 17 March afternoon. This will be done after the officials have completed their morning rounds in areas scheduled for Wednesday calendar days.

All customers that are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday calendar days are requested to take out their 240ℓ wheelie bins from Wednesday afternoon.

The City will engage the group to establish their grievances and avoid similar interruptions.

The City apologises for the inconvenience caused.
