CITY OF EKURHULENI HOSTS AFRICA WATER AND SANITATION DIALOGUE

The City of Ekurhuleni is proud to host the first Africa Water and Sanitation Dialogue at Emperors Palace, Kempton Park, from 9 to 12 November 2025.

The three-day dialogue brings together South African municipalities and others from outside the country, including water experts, to discuss key challenges and solutions in the water and sanitation sector.

MMC for Water and Sanitation, Cllr Thembi Msane welcomed the delegates and emphasised the importance of these engagements in enhancing the city’s ability to address challenges and ensure quality services to residents.

“The City of Ekurhuleni is committed to providing world-class quality water and sanitation services.

“We have made a significant progress to reduce our non-revenue water to 29%, the lowest in Gauteng Province, and we are working towards our target of 25% non-revenue water,” said Cllr Msane

The city has also maintained a Blue Drop water status, indicating that its water is of world-class quality. Cllr Msane also highlighted that the city has implemented initiatives such as a meter replacement programme to reduce water losses, improving efficiency, and delivering greater volumes of water to the community.

The conference will provide a platform for delegates to exchange practical experiences, innovative solutions, and policy ideas to advance universal access to water and sanitation.

The City of Ekurhuleni is committed to working together with stakeholders to ensure that all residents have access to reliable and sustainable water and sanitation services.
