EKURHULENI WATER STORAGE LEVELS CRITICALLY LOW DUE TO HIGH DEMAND
The City of Ekurhuleni’s water storage levels remains critically low due to high water consumption and Rand Water’s stage 2 restrictions.
The city appeals for reduced water usage so reservoir levels can recover.
In the meantime, the city has employed various measures to improve the reservoir levels. Among those is the reduction of water pressure in areas with high consumption, and the closing of outlet valves at night to allow the reservoir levels to build up. Furthermore, the city prioritises all major burst pipes and leaks to contain water losses.
As of yesterday, the following reservoirs are experiencing low pressure to no water:
- Central Reservior – 0.00%
- Knoppiesfontein Res – 0%
- Sunny Ridge – 0.48%
- Sunnyridge – 1.4%
- Daveyton Res – 10%
- Voggelfontein – 11%
- Primrose – 16%
- Etwatwa x9 – 18.74%
- Russel – 22%
- Kwa-Thema 2 Res – 33.04%
- Kwa-Thema 1 Res – 35.83
- Etwatwa EXT 19 Res – 39%
- Cossins Road Res – 43.87%
- Cossins – 44%
- Sallies – 45%
- Kempton West – 50%
The public is reminded of the prohibition of irrigation between 07h00 and 17h00, and stringent enforcement of water supply by-laws regarding illegal connections, water use, and any other water-related contravention.
