PROGRESS IN BOOSTING GERMISTON WATER SUPPLY

The MMC for Water and Sanitation, Cllr Thembi Msane, conducted a site visit on Friday, 6 December at the Rand Water connection site, where a dedicated team is preparing to install a pump linked to the newly constructed Russell Road reservoir.

This initiative aims to enhance the water supply to industry, business and residents in Germiston – an area facing intermittent water supply issues for some time now. The installation of this pump is also a crucial step towards addressing the high demand for water in the area, particularly during peak usage times.

During the brief visit, Cllr Msane emphasized the importance of this project, stating: “We have adopted an all-hands-on-deck approach to ensure the completion of the project because we are seized with providing reliable water supply to all our communities and business alike.”

In light of ongoing challenges with water supply, especially during the current heat wave, Cllr Msane has urged everyone to continue using water sparingly and adhere to Level 1 water restrictions.

“Every drop counts,” she remarked, highlighting the need for a collective effort in conserving ‘this vital resource’.

The City remains focused on improving its critical infrastructure and ensuring that all residents enjoy a consistent and sufficient water supply.
