CITY SENDS OFF EMPLOYEE ATHLETES FOR THE COMRADES MARATHON 

The City of Ekurhuleni hosted a breakfast send-off for its employees who will participate in the Comrades Marathon today, 4 June at the Banquette Hall in Germiston. The Comrades Maraton will  take place on Sunday, 09 June from 5:30am to 5:30pm in KwaZulu-Natal.

The send-off was officiated by the Executive Mayor Ald. Nkosindiphile Xhakaza, and Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Services Bridget Thusi was in attendance. The Mayor and MMC expressed their support for the 33 employees of the city who will participate in the marathon.

The athletes, who will fly the city’s flag high, will depart on Friday, 7 June.

As part of the send-off, the City of Ekurhuleni’s Athletics Club honoured its veteran runner, Edwin Makhubo.
