EKURHULENI PRESENTS THEATRE DOUBLE BILLS FESTIVAL FOR YOUTH MONTH CELEBRATIONS
The City of Ekurhuleni will host the Theatre Double Bills Festival at Dumisani Masilela Theatre in Germiston from 27 to 28 May and 03 to 04 June 2022. The city has been providing developmental workshops, masterclasses and training for the same theatre groups in the past 3 to 5 years as an aftercare incubation programme for the theatre groups in the region.
The productions form part of an annual, Ekurhuleni Youth Month celebrations calendar. This year, 2022 marks the 46th year since the Soweto uprising. The City of Ekurhuleni aligns with the National Government’s 2022 theme for Youth Month, which is the following: “Growing youth employment for an inclusive and transformed society”.
The Ekurhuleni Youth Month Programme is supported by Ekurhuleni Public Employment Programme EPEP, an initiation of the National Treasury and Presidential Employment Stimulus. Currently, more than 115 youth and adults are employed in the arts and creative sectors through the EPEP in the region.
All performances will take place in the afternoons and entrance is free. The Public is encouraged to book their seats by emailing mpumi.ekurhuleni@gmail.com
