IT’S THE BATTLE OF THE WORDSMITHS

The City of Ekurhuleni calls on all wordsmiths from across the region to battle it out on stage through slam poetry competition.

Interested poets must be residents of the city and be 16 years or older to participate. There will be no registration, just walk-ins.

There are three (3) categories on the score sheet that will determine the ultimate outcome, namely: Lyrical, Dramatically and Narrative. 

The slam poetry competition will take place in various places around the city. Top 3 performers from each area will be chosen to participate in the grand finale on December 13, 2024, at the Dumisani Masilela Theater in Germiston.

SOUTHERN REGION:

Date: Tuesday, 26 November 2024.

Time: 10H00 -16H00

Venue: Katlehong Library Auditorium

EASTERN REGION 

Date: Wednesday, 27 November 2024.

Time: 10h00 – 16h00

Venue: Rhoo Hlatshwayo Art Center 

Date: Thursday, 28 November 2024

Time: 10h00 – 16h00

Venue: KwaThema Library 

NORTHERN REGION:

Date: Friday, 29 November 2024

Time: 10h00- 16h00

Venue: Thembisa West Library.
