Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards Information Briefing Sessions

The City of Ekurhuleni’s Sports Recreation Arts and Culture department calls Visual Artists who are 18 years and above to attend the 2021 Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards (TMFAA) Briefing Sessions, 25 June 2021, 11h00 – 12h30  at Coen Scholtz Recreation Centre, Mooifontein Road, Birchleigh North, Kempton Park.

The TMFAA is a contemporary fine arts competition seeking to inspire the passion that the late acclaimed resistance artist Thami Mnyele had for art. The rules of this unique competition are open to any kind of media and limitless scale, allowing various forms of the artistic oeuvre to be unearthed. The entered artworks are from a plethora of young and professional artists. This competition is free from the traditional rules of galleries and museums system. Over the years the artworks selected by the adjudication panel have improved in quality and aesthetic value.

These sessions aim to allow artists to gain much-needed technical information regarding format, size, media and layout of works, as well as give advice regarding the presentation of competition standard work. This year’s competition’s submission is online and this session will also assist artists with the processes of online submissions.

RSVP is essential. Please confirm attendance by emailing: Plantina.kodisang@ekurhuleni.gov.za
