THE STAGE IS SET FOR THE THAMI MNYELE FINE ARTS AWARDS

It is all systems go for this year’s edition of the prestigious Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards. The announcement of winners is set for Saturday, 24 September 2022, at the Coen Scholtz Recreational Centre in Kempton Park.

A total of 320 entries were received for the national competition of which 72 artworks were selected for the final exhibition. Some of the criteria for the submitted works were that all works of art must have been completed in the 12 months before the competition and participants must be South African citizens over the age of 18.

Prizes for this year’s Thami Mnyele Fine Art Awards include a whooping R180 000 in prize money, an exhibition for shortlisted artists, a solo exhibition for the winning artist, and an opportunity to network with top artists.

While the prize giving is happening from 18h00 on Saturday, the exhibition of works is open to the public until 28 October 2022.
