Tswelopele Youth Development Shaping the Youth

Tswelopele Youth Development is a cultural group from Vosloorus that educates young people on culture.

This youth development, fully registered with the Department of Social Development as a non-profit organization, was established in 2016 by Sarah Makhafola- a community member from Vosloorus. The group started with only six members and grew in leaps and bounds and today they boast of 30 young people between the age of 12 and 36.

These young people are taught discipline, theater performance and traditional music, among others.

‘’I saw the need in our community for young people to be taught traditional dance, their culture as well as making sure that they stay away from drugs and substance abuse’’ said Sarah Makhafola, Director & Founder of Tswelopele Youth Development.

She is assisted by Thabo Bodibe, Ntombi Maphumulo, Buyisiwe Mvelase, Themba Mdoda and Thulani Zwane o run the organization.

Tswelopele Youth Development has participated in several competitions across the City such as Duduza Arts Alive, Kasi Sounds Poetry Session, State of the Free Arts amongst others, where they
