APPEAL FOR RESIDENTS IN DAVEYTON AND ETWATWA TO ALLOW CITY OFFICIALS TO PROVIDE SERVICES

The City of Ekurhuleni appeals to residents in Daveyton and Etwatwa to allow City officials to provide services.

The appeal follows a community protest that prevented officials to conduct repairs to restore power supply, implement load reduction or provide other municipal services.

Though the protest has since subsided and power is restored to all affected areas, waste removal backlog still needs to be cleared.

The City condemns the attacks and is concerned about the impact on service delivery due to workers’ fear for their safety.

Residents are encouraged to report service requests or complaints at the Call Centre on 0860 543 000 or submit a petition to the City in terms of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality Petitions By-law, rather than holding of violent protests.
