CITY MOURNS TSHIDI MADIA
The City of Ekurhuleni joins the multitudes of South Africans in mourning the legendary and seasoned journalist Tshidi Madia.
Madia who passed on after a short illness recently was born and bred in the City of Ekurhuleni and continued to be a resident until the time of her passing.
Growing up in Leondale and going to Germiston High School, Tshidi was bubbly, intelligent and assertive among other traits. From a young age, she believed in South Africa, and her ambition to influence the narrative and debates in society let her to the University of Johannesburg where she pursued a degree in Journalism and Communication. She also espoused great passion for fashion design, and those who grew up with her can attest to the fact that she had a talent in this regard.
As a country and the rest of the world, we have been robbed of a rare gem that was yet to realise her full potential. Her invention of Politricking with Tshidi Madia was steadily gaining momentum and many senior politicians who have been part of it can confirm that the level of engagement in that podcast brought out the best in them in as far as the issues raised were concerned. She asked tough questions to all she came across.
The Tshidi element did not just deal with political matters domestically, she had a broader view of the political issues around the world of politics and was never shy to engage and shape any political discussion – with a great passion for her country.
As much as she has untimely left us, her legacy shall live on. We shall forever remember many of her interviews, attributes and narratives on a variety of issues – the biggest one being her recent piece of work when dispelled the myth that there was genocide in the country – this when she was part of the South African delegation which was led by our Honourable President Cyril Ramaphosa to deal with the impasse between South Africa and the USA in the Oval Office.
Rest in eternal peace Tshidi. You ran your race. You brought joy and happiness to many, and you shall forever be remembered for your honesty and passion in the art you chose for a profession.
