CITY REMAINS FULLY FUNCTIONAL AMID TAXI STRIKE

The City of Ekurhuleni wishes to reassure residents and customers that key services remain unaffected by the ongoing taxi strike that started yesterday in some parts of the region.

Only the Harambee Bus Rapid Transport services are suspended as a precautionary measure.

Municipal facilities, including clinics, rates halls, libraries and recreational facilities, are open as normal. Furthermore, our technical response teams remain ready to respond to any service delivery interruption that may occur.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department along with other security agencies including the SAPS, and the Gauteng Department Transport are currently monitoring the situation, which up to now has remained calm.

The city hopes that all stakeholders involved in resolving the current situation find a solution soon, so that people’s lives can return to normal.
