MMC MSANE CONDUCTS OVERSIGHT VISIT TO VOSLOORUS EXT 9 RESERVOIR

The MMC for Water and Sanitation, Cllr Thembi Msane, conducted an oversight visit to the Vosloorus Extension 9 reservoir on 9 April, to assess the planned renovations of the 45-megalitre reservoir, particularly the replacement of the waterproofing membrane.

The deterioration of the waterproofing has compromised the reservoir’s functionality, leading to inconsistent water supply. As a result, the City has initiated urgent renovations to restore the reservoir’s full capacity.

Communities most affected are in the areas of Vosloorus Extension 2, experiencing no water supply, while Extensions 11,13 and 28 residents are facing low water pressure.

“We want to assure the community of Vosloorus that the project will take approximately four (4) months to complete. During this time, we will ensure the restoration of water supply upholds Blue Drop water quality standards,” said MMC Msane.

To support the residents during the renovation period, the City has deployed roving water tankers to the following locations:

  • Zakhe Road;
  • Zathu Road;
  • Dikgwading Street;
  • Tsie Road;
  • Douglas Montseng Road;
  • Sepeng Street;
  • Mbatha Road;
  • Xabashe and
  • Lenao CI.

The City of Ekurhuleni remains committed to ensuring reliable and safe water supply for all residents.
