WASTE REMOVAL TO CONTINUE AS USUAL, AND DO NOT GIFT WASTE WORKERS DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON

The City would like to assure residents that waste removal services will continue as usual during the festive season except on Christmas Day, 25 December 2025.

All areas that are due to be serviced on Christmas Day, will be serviced the following week, as per the waste removal calendar.

On all the other days, including the New Year’s Day, waste removal services will continue as usual.

Furthermore, members of the public are discouraged from giving ‘Christmas Boxes’ to municipal workers during this time of the year as this is against Council policy and affects service delivery. This practise is prevalent during the festive as some residents tend to give small gifts of gratitude to municipal workers.

Though giving is an act of kindness, it leads to commonly reported incidents of abuse by waste removal workers and affects the turnaround time for service delivery.

Members of the public experiencing any waste removal interruptions are encouraged to escalate these to the City via the call centre on 0860 54 3000.
