New Mini-Substation to Improve Power Supply in Sky City

The recurring power supply interruptions experienced at Sky City in Alberton over the festive season have been resolved by installing a new mini-substation early January.

Ekurhuleni technicians replaced the entire mini-substation with a new one following weeks of testing to identify the fault. This replacement is one of the City’s ways to mitigate power supply outages and combat energy losses in the area.

Residents in the newly developed residential area, positioned in the south of Katlehong, known as Waterval, have started the new year with the assurance that their electrical supply is secured.

Bassie Nkosi, a new property owner in the area, said she was pleased to see electricians revisit the area after the installation to ensure that the new electrical infrastructure was in a working condition.

The Senior Operations Officer in the Energy Department, Nomfesane Jokazi, also confirmed that routine maintenance work was done throughout the City to detect any errors on the electrical infrastructure.

NB: Residents are advised to report any service-related queries to the City’s call centre on 0860 543 000.
